First blog post – and what a better way to kick this whole adventure off by introducing you all to Bedford’s first Pilates studio, movefit pilates, dedicated wholeheartedly to healthy movement and mat-based exercise!
Since qualifying as a Pilates teacher in 2014, this has been something I wanted to do. I fully support all forms of exercise, but when it comes to Pilates, I’ve also always felt its benefits are best enjoyed in a space that is welcoming of all abilities, ages and genders and that is accessible. I also feel very strongly that small classes (8-10 people at the very maximum) promote better execution of the exercises but also more comradery making the whole experience of attending a Pilates class at movefit pilates so much more enjoyable!
Movefit pilates also has an array of small equipment – like overballs, thera bands, pilates rings, foam rollers, physio balls and ankle weights – that enhances the feel of exercises and can increase the challenge and is available for all to use and experiment with.
My new studio, based at 101 Rosamond Road, snuggly borders both the Castle and Newnham areas and includes a room solely used for Pilates (and other mat-based disciplines, like yoga will also be introduced shortly). Parking is available just in front of the studio as well as off road. And we are very luck to be easy to reach by car, bicycle, running or walking. Those who know me well already will know that I always advocate the use of your own legs to get you places! Both for health and environmental reasons!
The studio also benefits from having really lovely neighbours! The Whitehourse Pub has been super welcoming and I’m sure a few of us are looking forward to après-Pilates lunch or dinner (and maybe a few cheeky drinks too).
I look forward to welcoming you to movefit pilates!
